This old laptop: Revitalizing an aging notebook on the cheap
This is an excellent story that parallels a recent service we did for a customer here at Just Works. In the article, the author set up the option to use Ubuntu Linux by swapping the hard drives. With our customer, his original hard drive had died, so after replacing it, we simply installed Linux. Our customer had not yet done a RAM upgrade, so we set him up with a dual boot between Mandriva Linux and Damn Small Linux. Damn Small Linux ran wonderfully in his skimpy 128MB of RAM, and once he upgrades the RAM, Mandriva will really make his Think Pad R52 scream.
If you’d like to revitalize your laptop, Just Works offers a special $100 Professional Linux Installation. We’ll install and configure the best Linux distribution for your needs and configure the hardware so your old computer just works again.
